A few people have asked me if there’s a way of starting an online business without an investment. They want to receive the courses, tools, coaching and software first and then pay once they start making money with their online business.

Well… First off I’d like to say that’s very hopeful, but unfortunately it’s not the way the world turns. No business can afford to give everything away for free even if it is to help someone start off with an online business.

Think about it this way…

If anyone gave away their courses, tools, coaching and software for free, then how can they afford to stay in business at all? They have spent thousands if not hundreds of thousands for research and to put together the incredible courses, build the software and tools. They have staff who works full-time to help each and every customer one-on-one. They have office rent, electrical bills, servers, and the list goes on. I’m sure you get the idea.

If you were in their shoes, would you give away products or services for free when it cost you a lot of money to produce and maintain? That’s right, you wouldn’t.

Usually, the small investment one would make when starting an online business would cover any expense in getting you started and covers all the support you’ll receive which will help you operate business for as long as you desire.

People must protect themselves from those who are not serious and have no intention other than to satisfy their own curiosity. The small fees they usually charge assures them that you are serious and willing to make a commitment to their company, program and most importantly… you make a commitment to your business.

Therefore these companies cannot deduct any fee associated with providing their wonderful products and services to people around the world wanting to start an online business.

There is no need to be concerned about your initial investment to starting your business because you always get a trial period of 30, 60, 90-days (depending on each one) and if you are not successful and don’t generate a good income, you can always request a refund within the time allowed and promptly get it back too!

So now you know why people charge a fee, but you’re probably thinking if you should go ahead and make the investment to start your own online business or not.

If you’re hesitating to invest money into your own online business then you need to think about a few things here. In order for you to start making money online, the first thing you need is knowledge. So what knowledge do you need? Well… you need to know where to start, what to do, why you must do it, how to do it, when to do it, etc.

By learning everything you need to know to get your online business off the ground, you’ll be able to start generating an income. Your business will start making sales and then you will learn how to grow it and so on.

So back to why you should make a small investment to start your own business which will make you money in return…

What do most people do if they want a better job or before they even have a job? Clue: They decide to do something to help them get the job they want.

This is an obvious one. They go to school to learn.

So if most people (maybe you too) can justify the huge expense of learning specific courses just to hope for a job they might not get, then why would you question making a SMALL investment for a course needed to get your online business started and off the ground making you money right away while you’re learning?

That’s something to seriously consider, isn’t it?

Well, I have something to help you with your decision. While you’re contemplating about if you should make the investment for a better future or maybe you just don’t have the money to get started period, I have put together some really cool and simple things you could do on the weekend that can make you some easy cash so that you’ll be able to afford to invest into a good course which will help you start and grow your own online business.

Since you’ve been receiving my regular posts about building the foundation of an Internet business, you probably have a good idea of what you’re supposed to be doing before starting your online business.

But there are still a small number of people who are stuck and not sure of what they’re supposed to do next, or let alone, what they’re supposed to do first in order to get their online business started.

But before I go into what steps you need to take right now to start your own online business, I want to address this important issue that you should know about.

I’ve been receiving many emails from subscribers with very important questions. These questions most likely apply to you as well. Maybe you’ve asked me the same thing, but don’t worry as I will be addressing all these questions here today in this article.

I’m not going to post every question I got here, but I will brief things up so we can get to the point.

Basically, so many of my subscribers and customers (maybe you too) are very interested in building a future for both themselves and loved ones. They admit to being scared to make any moves because of today’s economy, and they can’t afford to fail.

And if you’re thinking the same thing, you’re probably wondering what I suggest you should do, right?

Well, since starting a business during the way today’s economy is going is supposed to be a bad idea, the downturn of this economy is actually a GOOD time to start an Internet business.

Online sales have never been STRONGER, you’ll have access to an entire global market, the start-up costs are negligible, and you can get started while you’re working a “regular” job, so you won’t feel the pressures of needing to earn big profits right away.

As a matter of fact, there are tons of benefits for starting an Internet business during a recession.

It’s common to feel scared when you’re just starting out but the truth is that there’s nothing to really worry about!

There’s actually VERY little risk that you’ll fail – as long as you are following a tested and proven system for starting a successful online business.

With the right system, you can start slowly but surely, without huge costs upfront, only using the free time you get on evenings or weekends to get the basic requirements in place.

Then, as time goes by, you’ll continue to learn and grow and start earning modest profits. This will allow you to invest more time and money in your business and keep applying better advanced strategies until your online business is making you serious money.

Then, once your first online business is running hands-free, you can use everything you have learned to start a second one, then a third and so on until you have MULTIPLE streams of income flowing into your bank account automatically.

By that time you’ll have probably kissed your regular day job goodbye FOREVER!

Wouldn’t that be nice? But you have to know that it won’t happen overnight and it’s not as easy as every other person advertising on the Internet tries to make you believe. If you take your time and stay focused, motivated, without giving up, this life-changing income CAN really be yours!

Anyways, back to the main reason I wrote this article…

I want to help get you started with your own online business today. So I would like to give you a walkthrough of the steps I personally use and give to all my customers in order to help them build profitable online businesses.

I’ve been teaching this system for years now and it has worked really well for hundreds of people – with many of them now making incomes of $5,000… $10,000… Some even $15,000 or MORE per MONTH!

But don’t get discouraged by those numbers, you can start off small and easily supplement the income you’re already making at your job which could be an extra $1,000 or $2,000 per month to help you pay off debt, take a vacation, buy things you could never have bought before, etc. You get the idea.

Ok, let’s get started…

Step #1: Figure Out What Your Passions and Interest Are

I know I’ve already told you this before but it’s worth going over it again.

If you want to start an online business, you should base that business on your own personal skills or interests.

People who build their business around their own personal passions or experience almost always tend to achieve more success FASTER than people who don’t.

Plain and simple: If you’re not passionate about what you’re doing, you simply won’t find it as enjoyable and you’ll be less likely to succeed – or you could even FAIL!

So the first step you should take is to figure out what exactly are your passions, hobbies, interests, ideas and areas of expertise.

So if you haven’t read the article and completed the assignment I gave you that allowed you to figure out exactly what your passions and interests are, you will need to take this step first!

Step #2: Find A Lucrative “Niche Market” Filled With Hungry Buyers

If you’ve been reading any of my articles posted on this blog, you should be pretty familiar with the term “niche market”.

In fact, it’s probably the one MOST important thing you should understand, because finding a niche market is SO critical to the success of your online business!

But if you don’t know what it means, most successful Internet marketers along with myself define a niche market as “a group of people who are searching the Internet for a solution to a problem and NOT finding it.”

In other words, you’re looking for a specific market that has a HIGH demand and a LOW competition. Seems pretty simple, right?

So how do you find a niche market? In a word, RESEARCH.

You’ll need to do the following:

- Keyword research to find out what problems people are typing into the search engines
- Market research to find out where your potential market hangs out online
- And, Competition research to make sure there’s room for you in that market.

And please remember, DON’T rush this process!

This critical step is the most important one you will take when creating your online business. Finding your niche is like building the foundation for a house. The stronger your foundation is, the more stable your entire house will be.

Step #3: Find A Hot-Selling Product That Your Niche Market Will Beg You For By Joining A Good Affiliate Program

Once you’ve found your niche market, and understand the problem you’re going to help people with, it’s time to find the solution (product or service) you can recommend to them.

And while you can build your own product to sell online (if you wanted to; of course), there are plenty of products and services you can recommend without having to spend money on development, manufacturing, shipping, and storing.

You can:
- Work with a drop shipper, promoting their products while they take care of the shipping and storage for you
- Join an affiliate program, and get paid commission by recommending other peoples’ products on the Internet
- Offer to perform a service for people

You can use sites like Worldwide Brands, Commission Junction, PayDotCom.com, Clickbank, and so on to find these products and services that you can recommend.

And while these are all great options for someone just getting started, the HOTTEST thing you can recommend online is information!

By finding the right affiliate products in the form of an eBook that solves your niche markets problem for them, you can recommend these eBooks and the company you’re affiliated to will deliver it instantly hands-free, plus you get paid commissions up to 75% from each sale!

You can find tens of thousands of products online that you can recommend to your market and get paid good commission for.

So what you need to do for this step is to find the perfect information product that is the solution to your niche markets problem. So visit Clickbank.com and you can search for literally any information product in any market that can be delivered digitally within seconds.

Once you find a product at Clickbank.com that you think your market can use, you can simply join their affiliate program (free of charge) and start recommending that product to your niche market.

Step #4: Drive Visitors To The Product Sites You Want To Recommend And Start Earning Your Commission

Your job is NOT over once you’ve figured out your what your passions are, found a niche market of hungry buyers or picked the products you’d like to recommend…

Now you need to start actively sending customers to the products you’ve found. There are many ways that you can do this. You can pay for traffic or you can receive it for free.

You’re probably thinking to yourself, “why would I pay if I can get it for free?”

Well you’re right for the most part but it’s not quite the same. I’m going to explain the difference between both paid and free traffic and you can decide what’s best for you at this time.

Paid Traffic

If you pay for traffic, you’ll get a lot of people on the product sites much FASTER and the way to do that is with a pay-per-click (PPC) adverting campaign which you can set up with major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing (a.k.a. MSN).

When you get started with a PPC campaign, you:

- Will get your ads listed at the top of the search results in as little as 15 minutes
- Get lots of traffic for very little money
- ONLY pay for the advertising that actually works (which means you only pay for people who actually click on the ad and see the product offer you sent them to)

And it’s SO easy to get started with too!

You just bid on the specific keyword phrases you found in your market research when looking for a niche market so that whenever someone enters any of those phrases into the search engines, a link to the product site appears at the top of the results page.

When someone clicks through to the website from that link, you pay the search engine the amount you bid on for that particular keyword phrase (usually keywords cost under $1, some even .5 or .10 cents).

You don’t have to invest a lot into this. You can test this with $10 or $20, get some traffic to the product sites, see how much commission you make from the sale and then reinvest some of that money you earned into more traffic. You get the idea. Keep doing this until you make more and more and more money.

Free Traffic

There’s many ways of sending FREE traffic to the product site you want to recommend to your market!

And one of the best ways that is working really well right now is through Social Media. I’m sure you know what social media is by now. It’s plastered all over the Internet and media.

If you don’t know, it’s basically networking sites where people create their own profiles and keep in touch with friends and family, make new friends, and most importantly for this type of online business, you can use it to talk with like-minded people (people who share the same interests as you).

This allows you to talk with other people that are most likely to buy products or services that you recommend and there’s no cost to you in doing that.

Now, there are many places you can do this online other than networking sites alone. You can go into online forums, blogs, groups, etc.

Below are some of the more important places you can go to interact with other people and recommend products and services. Remember, you can use all of these tools absolutely free and that’s what makes having an online business so great.

Here they are:

Facebook – The world’s largest social networking site. Members go here to find other people who share the same passions, interests or activities. You can build your own online profile and share different types of information with each other, such as pictures, videos, blog entries, links to other sites, and music clips.

A really good marketing strategy is to create a Facebook “Fan Page” for your online business and encourage your customers to become a fan. Then you can easily alert them whenever you have something you want to share about your business.

Twitter – A “micro-blogging” social network site. Members send each other short text-based posts of up to 140 characters which is referred to as “tweeting”. When you find peoples’ “tweets” that you like, you can simply subscribe to their feed and be updated every time they send a new message out.

YouTube – This is the Internets number one video-sharing site. Members share comments on each other’s videos. You can put a link on your own profile page that can direct people to your site (or product site that you recommend). Also, the videos you share can help establish your reputation as an expert in your niche market. An example of this would be that you could share a “how-to” video that shows your market how to solve a common problem.

Don’t worry – your videos do not have to be super professional. A video shot with a web cam or a regular digital camera will work just fine.

Googe Groups & Yahoo Groups – You can connect with a world of people who share your passions.

With millions of groups and discussions at your fingertips, it’s easy to find the group that’s best for you — no matter what your interest is.

From within a group, you can reply to a message that someone else posted, or post a message or question of your own. You can also start a discussion in your own group that you can create so you can get in touch and keep in touch with your group’s members.

The discussions can be done online or by email. You can choose whether you want to read and post messages online, or to just use your current email account to read and respond.

Google Blogs – This is a good way to search for any blog that is currently talking about your favourite topic. Once you find a blog talking about your specific topic, you can post comments and links about the products you decide to recommend

Discussion Forums – It’s a message board or an online discussion site. It’s pretty much a modern equivalent of a traditional bulletin board. People participating in these forums may cultivate social bonds and interest groups for topics which may form from the discussions.

If you want to search for forums in your particular market, just type your keyword or topic into a search engine along with the phrase “discussion forum”. For example: If your topic is “martial arts”, you’d type the following into a search…  “martial arts” “discussion forum”  … Click here to see an example.

There you have it. These tools should be enough to get your business going.

By participating on sites like this, you can meet your future customers and learn how to give them exactly what they are looking for. In exchange, they’ll be more than happy to spread the word about you and the sites you want to recommend all over the Internet!

This all means that you’ll make money and then you’ll be able to grow your business by investing some of that money you make into paid advertising which will work much quicker and effectively.

Step #5: Use Email Marketing To Build Relationships With Your Visitors

Usually chances are the most people WON’T buy products that you recommend the first time they visit a site, so it’s very crucial that you stay in touch with them so that you can continue talking to them about your topic of interest and eventually drive them back to the product sites to make a purchase.

And by far the BEST way to do this is with email marketing.

Don’t get me wrong, you can still make sales but it would be very wise to capture your visitors’ email addresses so that you’ll be able to continue to talk with them and send them offers.

Important Note: I’m NOT talking about spam!

The way legitimate email marketing works is that you will be using your own site or blog to create a list of “opt-in” subscribers. The people who do subscribe not only WANT to hear from you, but they have specifically given you permission to send them emails.

Email marketing is a real perfect way for ANY business (online or offline) to make good profits, because:

- Your email list will be made up of people who are actually inviting you to sell to them
- You will be able to develop a lifetime relationship with your prospects
- The response is 100% measurable which will allow you to evaluate how successful your campaigns are within hours (saving thousands on advertising)
- It’s FREE to send out emails to all your subscribers
- It’s effective, instantaneous, and email management is cheap!

Just like most other things related to your new online business, email marketing is very easy to do! There’s a lot of tools you can use out there that make it just as easy as sending a regular email to a friend!

Here are 2 very good tools that you will need to use:

Most of you who are my subscribers and customers are learning a lot from what I’m teaching you and making a good income from your own home business because of the courses I’ve recommended to you.

On the other hand, if you’re not looking for an online business from home and you just want a job with a boss who controls every move you make, pays very little, leaves you with no time to enjoy your personal life with family and friends, and so on (you get the idea), then you’re in the wrong place. I’m not hiring anyone to work for me.

If you feel that you don’t want to learn from me anymore, well then I’m sorry to hear that. The next time you get an email from me, all you have to do is click the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom and you’ll never receive these lessons and recommendations from me again.

Now that we cleared that up, let’s move on…

The bottom line folks, this IS NOT A JOB  – it’s a business (an online business)!

I’m not really a salesperson, do I have to sell anything or convince others to join?

Most online businesses and everything I teach and recommend pretty much fulfills almost EVERY desire a person usually has when looking for an opportunity to work from home – such as:

- first and foremost, being able to help others
- not coming into direct contact with anyone
- not selling anything or any service
- not having to personally recruit anyone
- not having to persuade people to come to any meetings, seminars, webinars, or phone conferences
- not being expensive to join or get started
- not having a lot of fees to pay, products to buy and resell, or other hidden costs
- not being complicated to start
- not being limited to an area – you can do business with people from Africa, London, California, New York, or right next door
- not requiring too much time to operate
- not taking too long to start making money – with the right training, you could be literally making money this week
- being able to make multiple streams of income
- being able to make residual income (residual means you continue to get paid over and over again from doing something just one time)
- being able to operate the business from anywhere
- being able to get your money back if it doesn’t work out
- being able to receive support when you need it and other resources to help you succeed
- being a part of a company who truly cares about YOU and is legitimate, dependable, and trustworthy

So do you have any of these desires? I’m sure you do as most people would love the opportunity to have all those things happen.

But what about the question “DO I HAVE TO SELL ANYTHING?”

Well the short answer is, NO!

If you enjoy selling, that’s fine, but for the 90% of the population who aren’t salespeople, here’s some good news: YOU DON’T HAVE TO SELL ANYTHING TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN AN ONLINE BUSINESS!

All you need to do is send people to your website or any website you’re affiliated to. This is easy to do especially if you know what people are looking for online and if they’re looking for something they really need, then the website you send them to will do all the selling for you!

Basically, the more people you send to your website (or any website that pays you commission), the more money you will make.

What you have to understand is that there’s something other PEOPLE WANT or NEED (just like you and me – we all want or need something) and you can benefit from that.

When you’re searching online for something you want or need, it’s usually something you cannot easily find, right? Well hundreds of millions of people go online everyday searching for a solution to their problems and that’s what you have to find out – what is it that they want, then give it to them either in a product or service.

Once you position yourself in front of these people, the sales will happen automatically.

I hope you understand what I’m trying to tell you here. I’ve taught you in previous articles on this blog how to figure out what your passions and interests are, how to turn your passion into an online business, and how to find your niche market of hungry buyers who are actively searching for something that you can give them.

And that’s not all! I will be continuing these lessons and if you noticed yet, I’m taking you step-by-step down the right path through the scientifically proven methods you need in order to start and grow your own online business.

I’m going to shed some light on what seems to be the LEAST understood part of starting a successful online business – which is doing keyword research to find a lucrative niche market.

Here’s the thing… it seems like word about niche markets has finally gotten out, and most people now know that finding one is the KEY to a successful business on the Internet!

And most people also know that doing good keyword research is the way to find these niche markets.

But put the average person in a room with a computer — and ask them to actually do the research — and they have NO IDEA how to even get started!

So I’d like to break down the barrier that stands between you and your success on the Internet, by giving you the 8 simple steps you MUST follow to do successful keyword research that will lead to a lucrative niche market for your online business.

Once you’ve mastered these 8 simple steps, you’ll be able to start uncovering potential niche markets in literally MINUTES!

Then you can repeat the process, again and again, to find MANY niche markets, and set up a business with MULTIPLE streams of income.

Ready? Let’s get started…

Step #1: Use one word to describe a passion or interest

Getting started is easy! You just need to pick a single word that describes an interest or passion. For example, “dog” or “garden.”

And that’s the end of step one!

Okay, it’s not quite that simple. You do need to think carefully about what your interests and passions are first. It’s important that you choose something that you already know a lot about, and that you’re interested in learning even MORE about.

That will keep your new business fun and interesting for you over the long haul, and reduce the chances that you’ll get bored, discouraged and even give up.

And if you’re not sure what your interests or hobbies are, again, I can help you with that too! If you haven’t done so already, just check out this article, which contains a really good quiz that you can answer to discover what your passions and interests are.

Step #2: Generate “problem statements” by combining your interest word with the word “how”

Once you’ve identified your area of interest, you’ll want to see if there’s a problem related to that area of interest that people are trying to solve (and will hopefully be willing to pay for the solution).

Ultimately, you’ll be selling the solution on your website.

So using a FREE research tool like the Google AdWords Keyword Tool, simply type in the word that represents your interest, along with the word “how” (for example: “how dog” or “how garden“).

Why? Well, people who have problems they’re trying to solve typically type questions into the search engines to find answers, and “how” is the way they usually ask them.

The AdWords tool searches Google’s index to find what searches have been done using both of those words, so the results will contain search terms like “how teach dog fetch“.

These results are called “problem statements”.

Step #3: Record the “action words” in your problem statements

Once you’ve started generating some problem statements in your area of interest, you’ll likely notice a lot of “action words” are popping up in the results.

For example, if you searched on “how dog“, you’d likely get results like “how wash dog“, “how house train dog“, “how groom dog“, “how draw dog“, and so on.

The “action words” would be wash, house train, groom, and draw.

Take note of these words. They’re the ones people are using as they search the on the Internet to try to solve their problems.

Step #4: Choose problem statements that you have the interest, knowledge, or skill to solve

From your list of problem statements, select the problems would interest you the most in helping people solve.

So, if you’d like to help people housebreak their dogs, you’d choose problem statements like: “how to paper train a dog“, how to house train a dog“, how to house break a dog“, and so on.

Make a list of all the relevant problem statements related to your passion or interest.

Step #5: Find as many ways as possible to search for help with this problem

Okay, so for our example, now you know that you’re interested in helping people who are trying to learn how to train their dogs.

But remember: “how train dog” is NOT the only way people are going to search for this kind of help!

There are LOTS of different words for “train” – like “educate“, “teach“, “show“, “obedience“, etc. There are also quite a few words for “dog” too – like “puppy“, “canine“, “mutt“, etc. You want to make sure you identify as many of them as possible.

The more different ways you can identify for people to ask their question, the larger your potential market will be!

You can use FREE tools like Thesaurus.com or Google Sets to make a list of as many different words for BOTH your interest word and your action words as possible.

Step #6: Find the keywords people are actually typing into the search engines

Now you’re ready to get down to the nitty gritty!

It’s time to take a paid keyword research tool, like Keyword Elite, and find the actual keywords that people are typing into the search engines to find the solution to their problem.

Just enter your “interest” + “action” phrases into your keyword tool, making sure you use ALL of the different words you found in Step #5.

You’ll get a long list of actual searches that people are doing in the area you are focusing on (for example, “stop dog messing inside“, “teach dog go outside“, “paper train puppy“).

Step #7: Organize the top keywords into groups

Once you’ve got a long list of the actual keywords that people are entering into the search engines to find the solution to their problem, you want to organize them in groups — or “clusters” if you will — according to intention of the search term.

For instance, if you did a lot of keyword research for “dog house training,” you could organize all of your keywords under groups, like this: house training, puppy training, dog door training, dog incontinence, etc.

By creating these clusters, you’ll be able to find out what SPECIFIC problems people are searching for.

Step #8. Look for the clusters with the largest groups of keywords

Once you’ve got all of your keywords clustered, you’ll want to add up all of them and the number of different keywords each cluster has.

A large cluster with LOTS of keywords, all expressing the same problem, is one that’s worth exploring further. That’s a sign that there are plenty of people trying to solve the SAME problem, and that means LOTS of visitors to your website.

And there you have it… keyword research, in a nutshell!

You might not find a serious moneymaking niche the first few times you go through this process, but stick with it. You’ll find one soon!

Then, once you’ve found your potential niche market, you can test that market by affiliating yourself to other people products for commissions. This is very important because you don’t have to spend so much time or money on creating your own product and then find out if the niche market you chose is good or not.

First test the market with someone else’s product and of course get paid commissions for it, then if it works out to be a good market for you to build a business around, you can start to create your own product and keep all the profits for yourself.
